Somerset County Botox

If you are looking for a solution to fine lines and wrinkles related to muscle movement, Paul J. Carniol, M.D., F.A.C.S. offers a variety of non-surgical treatments at his Summit, New Jersey practice. A Union County Botox ® and Dysport ® provider, Dr. Carniol can help you diminish the appearance of dynamic frown lines and wrinkles between the forehead and brows, as well as the smile lines next to your eyes. Individuals throughout Essex County, Hunterdon County, and Somerset County who have undergone Botox and/or Dysport injections have achieved smoother, younger-looking skin at his practice.

Botox Cosmetic vs. Dysport, Dysport Cosmetic

Union County plastic surgeon Dr. Carniol offers both Dysport and Botox to his patients. Both of these injectables are used to smooth deep, persistent lines between the brows and forehead and diminish the appearance of crow's feet (lines around the eyes), which are related to facial expressions. These non-invasive treatments accomplish this by relaxing the muscles that cause the lines to form; results typically last up to four months.

Although Botox is distributed by Allergan and Dysport is distributed by Medicis, these medications work similarly. They both are used to weaken selected muscles that cause facial wrinkles and facial lines associated with facial motion. By weakening these muscles, the wrinkles and lines around your eyes and forehead can be reduced or eliminated for a few months. Most people will return to their pretreatment appearance when the benefits wear off; a small number will have some residual improvement that can last a few more months. Many Somerset County Botox patients report that it wears off after a few months but some patients will report that it has "worked" for up to eight months.

Although used by physicians across the globe for numerous patients over the years, some of the cosmetic uses of Botox or Dysport are FDA "off label" as the studies for the FDA were performed only for the "11" between and above the eyebrows. When used in the relatively lower doses, which are used for treating facial wrinkles, there have been no dose related side effects. The FDA has placed a black box warning for these medications when rarely used in multiple higher doses, some of these include spasms of larger muscles, and more significant effects on the body have also been reported. These effects have not been reported when used in lower doses on the smaller muscles of the face for cosmetic improvements.

In addition to Botox and Dysport, Dr. Carniol also uses facial fillers, such as Juvederm T, Restylane ®, Perlane ®, and Radiesse ®, as well as facial fat grafts. They are typically used to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, as well as add volume to the lips, cheeks, and chin. These may be used in combination with Botox and Dysport or performed separately. As a cosmetic and plastic surgery professional who treats patients from Somerset County with facial fillers, as well as patients from Hunterdon County, Essex County, Union County and other New Jersey counties, Dr. Carniol can evaluate and discuss your options for treatment based on your anatomy, condition, and goals.

In addition, Dr. Carniol offers various laser treatments for facial rejuvenation. Some of the commonly used lasers include fractional carbon dioxide lasers (CO2), YSGG (Pearl ® fractional), Titan lasers, and vascular lasers, which are the latest "solid state" technologies.
