The goal of cosmetic nasal surgery, rhinoplasty, is to give your nose a natural, improved and un-operated appearance. When considering this surgery patients often ask “will it be necessary to break my nose.” There is no one answer to this question that suits everybody. Everyone’s nose is different. Any decision as to whether this will be necessary can only be made when you have your evaluation. For some people it is not necessary while for others it is necessary to obtain the best result.
For patients with significant septal deviation rhinoplasty can also be combined with septoplasty to help reduce symptoms of nasal airway obstruction. Rhinoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. Using modern techniques, packing after surgery is usually not necessary, and there is usually only mild swelling and discomfort.
